Iran stopped using rial in exchanges with Afghanistan; official
The head of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce announced that rials (Iranian currency) are no longer used in Iran-Afghanistan exchanges.”
Speaking to ILNA news agency, the Iranian official Seyyed Hossein Salimi said that most Afghan businessmen keen to use the Iranian rial in their transactions with Iran but according to the recent Central Bank law, the dollar has been replaced in these transactions.
Referring to the reopening of the border between two countries, the head of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce added “The border crossings with Afghanistan have reopened and trade exchanges between the two neighbors have returned to normal after a hiatus in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.”
“Our effort is to make up for the almost 10 percent drop in trade with Afghanistan in recent months,” he confirmed.
Salimi noted that visas are issued for drivers of Iranian trucks to enter Afghanistan and there is no problem for traffic.
Answering to question about the Arian bank, he said “As far as I know, there is no problem in this regard any more but the Arian bank has not yet begun its operations.” Adding that even Afghanistan Banks start their operating in Chabahar depends on this subject.
He pointed to recent Political disputes between the two countries and added “Political differences cannot affect our exports to Afghanistan.”
According to reports, Most of Iran's exports to Afghanistan are consumer goods and food, and the annual trade volume between the two countries is about $ 3 billion.
