Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi urged all civilized countries in the world not to pay any attention to the cruel sanctions imposed by the US on Iran.

In a press conference held through video-conference, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi responded to Iran Press correspondent, saying: "Iran is always witnessing a contradiction in the remarks and behavior of American officials. What is important for Iran is that these sanctions are illegal."

"In any case, we have informed the world and the American authorities that these sanctions are illegal and cruel and that all sanctions must be lifted," he said.

He went on to say that in the midst of deadly coronavirus, the Americans should not prevent governments and other countries from helping Iran.

Mousavi urged all civilized countries in the world not to pay attention to these inhumane, illegal and oppressive sanctions, adding: "Our only expectation is that they will not implement these sanctions so that we can solve this problem with their help."

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi in today's press conference said that some countries wanted to politicize the Corona crisis.

Despite the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus worldwide and the need to fight it all out, the United States insists on its sanctions within the framework of maximum pressure policy against Iran and repeatedly imposing new sanctions against Tehran.

On Saturday, EU foreign ministers called for the activation of humanitarian exemptions in order to suspend unilateral sanctions against Iran to empower the country against the Coronavirus.

Worldwide, the total number of infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached nearly 1,275,000 while the global death toll has neared 70,000.
