Pakistan Ambassador hopes Iran as a mediator to resolve Kashmir issue

She said in an exclusive interview with ILNA news agency correspondent that during a recent visit by our Foreign Minister (Mahmood Qureshi) to Tehran, Mr. Zarif was asked to speak with India; we hoped Iran would be able to solve this issue as a mediator.

“As I know, Mr. Zarif contacted Ms. Sushma Swaraj, the former Indian Foreign Minister, but unfortunately Delhi did not accept it.”

“In the past, countries like China and the United States wanted to mediate but it didn't work out. I think India has just started this project but Pakistan will not be only observer,” Masood confirmed.

Pakistan’s diplomat said “We want to resolve the Kashmir crisis peacefully. So we are seeking political solution, but if India goes to arms, we will respond.”

She refers to India and Israel relations and added that Israel not only supplies Indian weapons and has close economic ties with Delhi, but Narendra Modi's friendship with Benjamin Netanyahu is deep and close so the traces of Israel in the Kashmir issue are quite evident.

Answering to question about Turkey and Iran’s role in this conflict, she added that I thank both countries for accompanying Pakistan. We have more hope in Iran than Turkey, because we have a common border with Iran and hope that India's good relations with Iran can help us.

Pakistan Ambassador refers to U.S peace talks with Taliban and said that the important thing was that the United States understood that they had to negotiate with the Taliban. Our suggestion to the United States is to negotiate with Iran, just as they did with us about Afghanistan pace talk.
