The spokesman for the presiding board of Iranian parliament Behrooz Nemati said Iran's main precondition for negotiating is U.S reneging on its promises under the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Speaking to ILNA news agency correspondent, he refers to French president's recent effort to try to get Iran to the table for negotiations with the US and said "I do not know what happened exactly, we also received news and information from the media, but I believe there should be room for negotiation."

"French President Emmanuel Macron suggested finding a shortcut way but it requires to evaluation of different scenarios," The Iranian legislator added.

He said that JCPOA was an international agreement and in spite of Iran's reservations with some of its articles, we have accepted the agreement. Adding that "Iran will not accept sanctions and we accept the new JCPOA  without sanctions."

The JCPOA between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia -- plus Germany envisages Tehran scaling back its nuclear program in return for the lifting of all nuclear-related sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday that Iran is prepared to take the third step of reducing commitments to JCPOA, adding that it will be reversible if diplomatic efforts are effective.
