Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday praised the unity among Iran's Army and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

Increasing unity among Iranian armed forces is necessary and will make the enemy angry, Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with senior comanders and officials of the Iranian Army.

Iran's Supreme Leader received the commanders and military officials of the Iranian Army's Ground Force on the eve of the National Army Day (April 18), which is the day of formation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army.

Showing brotherly relationship between the Army and IRGC was a good move after the US' harsh measure, the Supreme Leader added.

The United States officially designated Iran’s IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization, according to a notice published in the US Federal Register on Monday, Reuters reported.

US President Donald Trump said last week he would make the symbolic, but unprecedented move which was immediately condemned by Iran. Majority of politicians from all sides of the Iranian political spectrum rallied in support of the IRGC in a bid to show their support. Also, the Iranian lawmakers, wearing the IRGC’s olive green uniforms, attended the parliament on Sunday.

The Iranian press also opened their front pages with the news and reactions to the move. The reformist Etemad’s page one title read 'I'm a guard' in a clear bipartisan support for the forces.

The IRGC expressed its gratitude for the show of support, promising 'a reciprocal response to the enemies, especially the rogue and terrorist-nurturing government of the US'.

The latest anti-Iran move of Trump received fierce reactions from the Iranian officials. The country's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in a letter to President Hassan Rouhani called for a retaliatory move by labeling the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) as a terrorist organization and the US government as a sponsor of terrorism.
