Iran losing Syrian market to Turkey
Iran’s share of the Syrian economy is only three percent, but Turkey has taken 30 percent of its trade, says the Vice President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

Turkey’s latest statistics center report shows that the country exported more than $1.5b to Syria in the nine months of 2021, up 31 percent from the same period last year.
Statistics from the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran also show that in the seven months of 1400, Iran’s total exports to Syria did not reach even $104 million.
On the other hand, Turkey’s total imports from Syria in the 9 months of 2021 were about $134m while Iran’s imports from the country in the seven months of 1400 were only $17m.

The significant trade dispute between Turkey and Iran and Syria comes as the Turkish government is a staunch opponent of the government of President Bashar al-Assad and a supporter of the militias of the country’s opposition and Iran, along with Russia, are the most important defenders of the government of Al-Assad.
Meanwhile, the Tehran Chamber of Commerce announced that the government had “revoked the permit to import cars from Iran to Syria.”
