Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted his government's efforts to deal with the economic consequences of the US sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic, saying economic boom and stability are on his government's agenda.

Speaking at a Thursday session of the Administration’s Economic Coordination Headquarters, the president said the government is seeking to implement an economic road map, which includes the major policies for managing the economy in the one remaining year of this government.

The road map entails plans to make up for and repair the damages to the economy caused by the unprecedented sanctions imposed on Iran and by the outbreak of COVID-19.

Rouhani added, noting that the strategy would also include the completion and inauguration of major projects and the country’s economic stability.

The plans and policies that the administration has adopted over the past two years and a half have successfully dealt with the US’ sanctions and plots that were aimed at making Iran’s economic collapse, he added.

The president finally noted that the new road map involves plans to minimize the impacts of economic shocks on the livelihood of people, carrying out development policies, and further reduce the budget’s reliance on oil revenues.

Last week, President Rouhani said his administration has formulated a strategic document on the “economic road map” for the eighth year of his tenure.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on various occasions called for the implementation of the Resistance Economy policies to regulate plans and reduce the share of crude oil revenues in the financial resources of the administration.
