U.S Political Science professor at Columbia University believes that the future of Iran nuclear deal depends on Europe.

Robert Y Shapiro who is former chair of the Department of Political Science at Columbia University said to ILNA news agency that prisoner swapping is all to the good and is a step toward further negotiations between Iran and U.S. administration.

Asked about the future of US-Iran relations, he said "Trump's current policies will continue." Adding that U.S president distrusts Iran, he promised this in the 2016 campaign and it also reflects his position toward Israel and the Saudis.

Referring to Rouhani's recent visit to Japan, he said that this offers an alternative route to negotiations.

Answering to question about U.S sanctions is fair or not, the International analyst confirmed "this policy is not true but the leaders have to deal with this.

"The Trump administration gives its hard line policy priority over this policy," Shapiro added.

Robert Shapiro also serves on the editorial boards of Political Science Quarterly, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Critical Review, and is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research.
