Tehran Regional Security Dialogue meeting to discuss Afghanistan

The second session of Regional Security Dialogue will be held in Tehran today to be attended by national security officials mostly from Afghanistan's neighboring countries.

The meeting will be attended by Iranian and Russian national security secretaries-general as well as Afghanistan and India's national security advisors.

High-ranking security officials from China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are also taking part in the event.

Secretary-General of Iran's National Security Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani is scheduled to open the meeting and to hold bilateral negotiations with the visiting counterparts.

On the sidelines of the meeting, there will also be bilateral meetings of the national security advisers and secretaries of the attended countries.

The first Regional Security Dialogue Session was held in October last year with the participation of Iran, Russia, China, India and Afghanistan on the issue of increasing coordination among regional countries against terrorism.

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which are neighboring countries of Afghanistan, will also attend this year's meeting.
