The cause of increasing tensions between Iran and the United States is the presence of people like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo in the Trump Cabinet; former State Department official in the Barack Obama administration told ILNA.
Speaking to ILNA correspondent, Jeffrey A. Stacey added that John Bolton's rhetoric against Iran could ultimately lead to a military conflict between Iran and United States. On the other hand, allegations of Saudi and White House officials against Iran could trigger a military conflict in the region.
"I have to say that I believe that Iran's presence in Fujairah is unwarranted, because there is no need for Iran to be present in this event. If this is the case, the presence of the Yemeni people is more likely," he said. "Negotiating is the best solution to these problems. But the United States must adhere to its commitments."
A former State Department official believed that Iran has shown its commitment to international commitments. Iran was committed. "Tehran fulfilled all their obligations, even when they were under the most severe sanctions, they did not abandon any obligations".
Stacey said that on the day the nuclear deal was concluded, everyone thought the deal could resolve the differences between Iran and the United States. Barack Obama at that time said "this aggreement is a great achievement", and John Kerry reassured the government of its commitment to this deal.
"The same factors led to the unilateral and illegal withdrawal of the Trump agreement from the nuclear deal, which brought Iran into trouble because it had not been foreseen, US ex-diplomat added.
