Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Saturday that she has plans to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran in the near future.
Spokeswoman for the Russian diplomacy apparatus said she plans to travel to Tehran to confer with Iran's foreign ministry officials.
In an interview with the Director General of Islamic Republic News Agency on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Conference, Maria Zakharova said, "We and the Iranians have a lot to say. And so I'm going to visit Tehran soon."
Zakharova stated, "We have good communication with IRNA correspondents in Moscow, while (with laughter) Israeli journalists do not attend our press conferences."
Also on Friday, Zakharova told Aljazeera that US’ political will was required for establishing a dialogue between Tehran and Washington, stressing that the two countries were capable of direct dialogue and did not need intermediaries.
The twenty-third international economic conference of St. Petersburg began Thursday with representatives from more than 140 countries and Russian President Vladimir Putin met leading media directors of the world.
