Iranian foreign minister on Monday called for labeling the US military forces terrorist.
Zarif also sent a letter to the embassy of Switzerland in Tehran announcing that in case the US enlists IRGC among terrorist groups, Iran will take countermeasures, a Parliament Member Ali Najafi Khoshroo quoted Zarif as saying in a meeting on Monday.
Zarif condemned the US decision underlying that the act would entail serious consequences, the MP said.
"Although the Islamic Republic of Iran has not and is not after tension, it will reciprocate (the move) if the US makes such a decision," he quoted Zarif as saying.
The Swiss embassy protects the US' interests in Iran.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday designated Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization, marking the first time Washington has formally labeled another country’s military a terrorist group; Reuters reported.
