The Head of Iran's election office, announced the number of registrants in the upcoming presidential race.

"Ali Asghar Ahmadi", Deputy Interior Minister in Political Affairs, regarding the latest situation in presidential election registration said: "Overall, to this moment (12:45 AM), about 197 have officially registered for the race, from which 189 are men and 8 others are women. 86 of these registrants have filled their forms today and there are others who are submitting their documentation at the moment."

According to the top Interior Ministry official, the youngest person registered so far for running for the president is 18 years old while the oldest one is 82.

"Most of those who want to join the presidential race are between 46-50 years old" he underlined.

Ahmadi also added that most of the going-to-be candidates are graduates and hold master degrees.

Top Interior Ministry official also emphasized that the registration process is scheduled to take place in 5 days.

Ahmadi stressed that acting according to the exact orders of the law is the ministry’s priority and so far the organization hasn’t had any instances of unlawful registration.
