Turkish officials' allegations against Iran 'unfounded': Iran spokesman
Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that Turkey tries to justify its interventionist and expansionist policies in relation to neighboring countries by accusing others and repeating unsubstantiated claims.
Qasemi rejected 'unacceptable' and 'unjustifiable' remarks made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan against Iran, saying that unfortunately Turkish officials are maintaining to make baseless and interventionist comments toward neighboring countries.
President Erdoğan on Sunday made unfounded allegations against Iran's policies in Iraq.
The spokesman also declined 'false statements' issued by Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Başbakan Yardımcıları who had claimed that a new wave of three-million immigrants of other countries are moving from Iran to Turkey and then to Europe.
“Iran has been hosting millions of immigrants from neighboring countries for over 30 years,” he added.
“Islamic Republic of Iran has never misused this humanitarian issue for special pre-planned political purposes against any country,” Qasemi noted.
Foreign Ministry spokesmen urged Turkish officials to respect neighboring countries’ sovereignty and Syrian and Iraqi peoples' demands.
“Iran believes that respecting neighbors’ sovereignty and territorial integrity is the best option to reinforce relations among nations,” he said.
Qasemi also referred to holding constructive dialogue among neighbors instead of accusing others as the most suitable way to develop ties.
