Iran Oil Minister told ILNA that he believes at the time of Iran's oil nationalization movement, there was no distinction between governmentalization and nationalization.

Iranian Oil Minister “Bizhan Namdar Zangeneh”, regarding claims that oil industry’s nationalization by “National Movement”, led by “Mohammad Mossadegh”, consequently made the industry governmental and state affiliated, told ILNA that at the time, not only in Iran, but nowhere around the globe, there was no distinction between govermentalization and nationalization.

According to Zangeneh, nationalization of oil industry in the world, was a movement in which national government had replaced multinational companies.

“There’s no doubt that wherever oil was nationalized, it was organized afterwards by the state” he added.

The top oil official also emphasized that oil industry nationalization is a historic issue that has happened, therefore if we’re going to own oil sources and equipments by nationalization of the industry, we need to establish a state run company.

“If we’re going to take another route, this does not mean oil industry nationalization” he noted.
