Iran adopt right decision at right time about JCPOA: AEOI chief
The Islamic Republic is observing US decision on Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and will adopt the right decision at the right time, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said on Monday.
Salehi noted that following the Leader's recent remarks about the landmark nuclear deal, signed between Iran and members of the G5+1 in July 2015, the Iranian Supervisory Committee on JCPOA Implementation has held a meeting with the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.
Iran has foresighted the reciprocal measures to be taken towards US possible decision for extension of sanctions aganist Tehran, Salehi said.
Referring to the approval of a bill for extension of sanctions against Iran for another decade by the US House of Representatives, Salehi stressed, 'Extension of sanctions means violation of JCPOA.'
'Iran has adopted necessary measures and decisions will beome opertional in due time after monitoring and mulling US decisions,' the AEOI chief said.
Noting that Iran had no trust in the US from the beginning of the nuclear talks, Salehi said, 'Tehran has foreseen necessary considerations and has planned returning to the previous situation should the JCPOA be violated.
All decisions and undertakings are reversible, he stressed.
The JCPOA created a new paradigm in the international relations at the interest of whole the world, Salehi said stressing that the US will be the loser if it continues its present approach.
Salehi said that world public opinion will not accept violation of the JCPOA and is completely aware that Iran has done everything to fulfill the international agreement.
Hoping that the US president-elect Donald Trump will adopt a reasonable and realistic approach,Salehi said Trump cannot take a unilateral approach towards an international agreement which is supported by the UN Security Council.
'We did not sign a bilateral contract with US. JCPOA is an international agreement, particularly after adoption of Resolution 2231, the nuclear deal has found an internaional nature.
'Therefore, we hope that they (US officials) will not damage it and fulfill their commitments.'
Speaking about exports of Iran's heavy water to Oman, Salehi said that a number of foreign companies are in talks with Tehran to buy Iran's heavy water. 'Iran has sent about 11 tons of its heavy water to Oman' for potential buyers.
