UN envoy in Tehran ahead of Syria peace talks
United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura arrived in Tehran on Sunday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.
He is due to exchange views with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari on crisis and the latest developments in Syria, ahead of the resumption of the peace talks on the war-stricken country.
In his previous trip to Iran on April, UN official met and conferred with Iran’s high-ranking officials.
The crisis in Syria reached its fifth year, while active and effective regional and international actors have not found a common understanding for a solution to settle the crisis.This is while the Islamic Republic of Iran, since the beginning of the conflict in Syria, has urged the Syrian-Syrian dialogue as the only political way to solve the crisis.
