An expert on the region has said that Oman has the potential to mediate between Iran and the west to break the Vienna talk’s deadlock.

Hassan Hanizadeh said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that Oman is one of the six members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries that has kept its relationship with Iran during the last four decades.

Oman has played a constructive role in solving many of the problems between Iran and the GCC countries and the west, he added.

Commenting on the aims of the upcoming visit by the president of Iran to Oman, he noted that this trip can affect the development of the two countries' relations in the short and long term.

“Also it can be effective in improving the economic ties,” he said.

The Iran talk’s deadlock can be broken by Iran’s cooperation with Oman because Muscat has the potential to mediate Iran and the west, he asserted.

Generally, Iran and the GCC countries' relations improvement will lead to diminishing Israel and other foreign forces' influence in the Persian Gulf region, he said.
