US cannot continue policies of maximum pressure and claiming to favor negotiations

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian emphasized that the US cannot continue its failed policies of maximum pressure and economic terrorism while simultaneously claiming to favor negotiations and agreement.

In a phone talk with his Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday he discussed the upcoming Vienna nuclear talks with the G4+1 and the US stands on it.

He also focused on bilateral ties, regional and international development.

Wang Yi in the phone talk wished Amirabdollahian fast and full recovery from Corona disease.

Amirabdollahian appreciated the move of the Chinese government in sending 120 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines and expressed satisfaction over the expanding level of bilateral ties.

He voiced Iran’s support for Beijing’s international initiative on sustainable development, ensuring him that Iran will closely cooperate with China in that respect.

The Iranian foreign minister focusing on the upcoming Vienna negotiations expressed hope that both the Americans and the European sides will enter the talks realistically so that and agreement will be reach rapidly.

The Americans cannot on the one hand continue their defeated maximum pressure and economic terrorism policy and on the other hand claim to be supporting dialogue and agreement, emphasized Amirabdollahian.

He expressed confidence that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will be able to perform its responsibilities in Iran in accordance with the reached agreements and the related regulations quite properly.

On the situation in Afghanistan, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized the need for establishment of an all-encompassing government there, expressing hope that Afghanistan’s neighbors conference in Beijing, in continuation of the two round of talks in Tehran, will have a successful achievement.

The Chinese foreign minister, too, welcoming the continuation of nuclear talks, said that the Americans are the main factor behind the existing difficulties in implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Wang Yi meanwhile expressed hope that the US will make up for its obvious mistake by termination of the entire sanctions so that thanks to Iran’s positive approach the upcoming negotiations will bear good results.

He also invited his Iranian counterpart to visit China and expressed hope that their 3rd meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbors in China in the presence of Iran, will lead to the establishment of an all-encompassing, sustainable government in Afghanistan.
