The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that he will visit senior Iranian officials to find a mutually acceptable solution compatible with Iranian law that can meet the activities related to the basic verification in Iran.

"It is in everyone's interest," Rafael Grossi tweeted on Friday, noting that he is looking forward to the trip.

EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell also hailed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director's visit to Tehran on Friday night as "the lifting of sanctions" deadline approaches.

The IAEA has previously issued a statement announcing that the IAEA Director-General is scheduled to discuss with senior Iranian officials a solution that will ensure continued verification of nuclear activities and which would be agreed upon by the parties.

Last Tuesday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also confirmed that it had received a letter from Iran's Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna informing the IAEA Director-General that Tehran intends to suspends its voluntary actions under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in a statement said that Iran informed the IAEA on February 15 that it would suspend transparent voluntary action under the JCPOA on February 23, including the Additional Protocol.

On December 1, Iran's Parliament passed a law on lifting sanctions, obliging the government to limit cooperation with the IAEA if US sanctions continue and to take further steps in order to reduce its obligations under the JCPOA.

According to Article 6, "The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is obliged, in accordance with Articles 36 and 37 of the JCPOA, to suspend access beyond the Additional Protocol under the JCPOA within two months of the adoption of this law."
