Iran starts extracting oil from South Pars field

Oil Ministry officials told that Iran started oil recovery from oil fields.

“Gholam Reza Manouchehri”, Iran’s Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for Engineering and Development Affairs, on Sunday, announced the extracting oil from 7 wells at South Pars has started and within a week it will reach maximum capacity. 

He added that the operation is concurrent with the anniversary of nationalization of oil industry in Iran and told the reporters that the production will reach 35000 barrels per day when the wells were fully operational. 

South Pars, a shared supergiant gas field with Qatar is located in Persian Gulf waters and is estimated to have 14 billion barrels of oil in its oil layer.
