AEOI Chief: Iran's national Ion therapy center to be set up soon

The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) stressed that the most advanced center for Cancer Ion Therapy is going to be set up in Iran soon.

Iran Press/ Iran news: According to Iran Press, Ali Akbar Salehi on Tuesday said in the Alborz province that the construction of the Cancer Ion therapy center began with a funding of 200 million euros.

Referring to the fact that Iran's Cancer Ion Therapy Center is unique in west Asia, Salehi added: "Iran is among the world's seven countries which have installed and run such hospital with the most advanced equipment."

According to Salehi, in this center, a wide range of cancers are completely cured and eradicated.

Salehi added: "Iran is the first West Asian country to start this work."

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran also said: "The specialized forces needed for this center, are being trained in Austria to start working when the hospital is set up."

Salehi pointed out: "One of the responsibilities of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is to take care of radiopharmaceuticals and the establishment of this center is in line with this responsibility."

Salehi's remarks came on the sidelines of the testing procedure of the important equipment of Iran's National Ion Therapy Center in Alborz province Western Tehran.
